The fire department shop did a complete refurbishment of the squad truck.

East Hartford: EHFD has retired the Sutphen spare aerial from service.

January 2014 CT Fire Truck News

(From connfire.com)

January 2014

North Branford: Rescue 1 will be assigned a 2013 PL Custom on a Spartan chassis walk around heavy rescue.  It is due in town the week of January 20.  The current Rescue 1, a Chevy Suburban first responder truck, will either become Rescue 11 or Emergency 1.  The current Rescue 11, a 1988 GMC/E-One Walk In will be sold or disposed of.

Kent: There is a lot happening in Kent this year.  First, a new ambulance is on order and I believe the plan is for them to run two ambulances.  Also, a Firematic BRAT brush truck is also on order to replace the brush trucks.  The town approved funds to purchase used from a department in Maryland a 2004 KME 102' Tower Ladder and included in the sale is a 1991 KME pumper truck.  The department and KME mechanics already made the trip down south to look at the apparatus and funding has made it through all the major hurdles.  I believe the pumper will replace Engine 5.  The tower will be sent out for a new paint job and a minor refurbish prior to coming to Kent.  All apparatus should be in Kent late springtime.  Looking forward to photographing the new pieces.

Bethany: A new Ford SUV has been delivered and is being prepared for service to replace 1-Lima-1 which is an EMS fly car.  Lima is the South Central CMED designation for Bethany.

Woodbridge: Tanker-8 has been assigned a recently delivered US Tanker on a Freightliner chassis 3000GWT/1000GPM.  I am also working on confirming funds have been approved for an additional apparatus, but need to confirm before I will post any details.

Trumbull: Trumbull Ambulance has added at least 1, possibly 2 Sprinters to its fleet of ambulances.

Trumbull: Nichols Fire should be finalizing the bid for a new heavy rescue truck.

Enfield: The Hazardville Fire Department in Enfield recently took delivery of a Seagrave pumper.  The 1994 Spartan / Saulsbury is currently up for sale.

New Fairfield: The New Fairfield Fire Department has recently placed an order for a new ambulance.

West Haven: The West Shore Fire Department has placed into service an ambulance that once served Willimantic as Car 40.  It will be cross staffed when a commercial ambulance is not available.

Fire Stations:

North Haven:
The fire headquarters project as well as the new Montowese Station #2 fire house projects seem to be moving along.  I believe the rough time frame to have everything completed is Spring 2014.  After that, the Ridge Road and Northwest Fire Stations will be remodeled.

Enfield: The Thompsonville Fire Department has broken ground on a new fire station.  It will replace the current firehouse located at 11 Pearl Street.

Lebanon: The Lebanon Fire Department is currently looking to possibly build a small fire sub-station in a section of town that is a reach from headquarters.  I think a simple two bay metal clad building is what they will be building.  It is in the very early stages.

Harwinton: Harwinton ambulance is currently working on building a new station next door to Harwinton Fire.

North Stonington: Funds have been approved for a new fire and ems facility near the current fire headquarters.

Greenwich: The town approved funds for another fire station in a northern section of town.  Also fire headquarters is coming along.  Unsure of a time frame for completion.
