(From connfire.com)
October 2013:
Norwalk: The Norwalk Fire Department moved into the
new fire headquarters. That is a facility I cannot wait to see. It is
on the same ground where the old Volk Central Fire Headquarters sat and
can be seen from I-95. I am eager to get a tour of the new facility.
Middlebury:
Middlebury Fire has replaced the rescue with a rescue pumper that was
purchased used from New York. I hope to photograph that truck this
year.
Waterbury: Waterbury Fire is looking for a used pumper to add to the fleet.
Beacon Falls:
The Beacon Falls Fire Department has been awarded funding for a ladder
truck. The last ladder truck they ran was a Crown (remember from
Emergency!). Crown Fire Apparatus was popular on the West Coast while
Maxim was popular on the East Coast.
Ansonia: Both of Ansonia's new ambulances are in service. I should have picture's and spec's soon.
North Stonington:
North Stonington has approved funding for a brand new facility to be
built across the street from the current fire station. The new facility
will be a combine fire and ambulance station from my understanding.
Old Saybrook: The Old Saybrook Fire Department is working on spec'ing a new engine.
Trumbull: Long Hill Fire Department will be completely remodeling one of the fire stations.
Shelton:
On order are two 77' Rear Mount Quints one for Pine Rock and the other
for White Hills as well as a Pierce heavy rescue for Huntington and a
Pierce Heavy Rescue Pumper for Echo Hose. A springtime delivery is
expected for all apparatus.
Derby: Storms
Ambulance Corp will be sending out FD-10 so the body can be remounted
on a new chassis. The current International chassis will have a utility
body installed and become a dive truck.
East Hartford: Engine 3 has been assigned a 2004
Seagrave pumper which was in the show Rescue Me. The former Engine 3
Seagrave pumper has moved into reserve status.
Kent: Kent Fire ordered a Chevy / Lifeline ambulance.
Sherman: Sherman has two committees spec'ing out a new pumper and new ambulance.
Westbrook: Paperwork should be signed this
week with Seagrave for a 75' Aerialscope to replace the current aerialscope
serving the department.
Middlefield: Middlefield currently has an engine in
production.
Waterbury: Waterbury is currently looking to purchase a used
pumper truck.
Woodbury: Woodbury Ambulance has moved into a new facility
about a mile from the main station where they were housed prior to moving into
this facility.
Woodbury: Woodbury should be taking delivery of the new
Spartan/GK in the next couple of months.
Durham: The Durham Fire Dept should be taking delivery of
the new rescue this month.
North Branford: To the best of my knowledge, Medic 4 is now
running with the refurbished ambulance. It is a 2007 AEV on a new Terra Star
chassis. The second ambulance will go out after the first of the year for a
refurbishment.
New Britain: NBFD is currently
shopping for two aerial
trucks. The department got a grant to replace one aerial and capital
improvements included a new aerial truck. I know they have looked at
several
manufacturers, but I do not believe they have made any final decisions.

June 2013 CT Fire Trucks News n' Things
(From www.connfire.com)
June 2013
Shelton: The town placed an order with KME for two Quints, one will be assigned to the Pine Rock Park Station, the other going to White Hills. Also, Pierce was awarded the heavy rescue for Huntington and the rescue pumper for Echo Hose.
Shelton: Echo Hose Ambulance is still in the process of adding a medic to the membership. Eventually the tac car will be an ALS ambulance.
New Haven: The new Sutphen Truck 1 should be delivered sometime in July to the New Haven Fire Dept. The current Truck 1 will be traded in and Truck 1A will remain a spare.
New Haven: New Haven Fire got the funding to replace three pumper trucks. The engines on the list for replacement include E5, E9 & E11. The bids will go out in the near future. To my understanding E5 will be a foam truck and will not be a quint. Also, the emergency unit that was involved in a crash a few years back will be refurbished with a glider kit and become Emergency 2. I believe a new fire hydrant truck will also be included in the funding.
Bethel: Stony Hill has taken delivery of a new Pierce engine tanker.
Wilton: Marion has been awarded the bid to build a new tanker on a Spartan Gladiator Chassis. It will have a 2500/GWT with a 1500/GPM,
Fairfield: Fairfield has taken delivery of a 2013 US Tanker on a Spartan Chassis for Engine 1. Also a new Deputy Fire Chief vehicle should be in service soon.
Hamden: Car 3 is now operating with a 2013 Ford Expedition.
Derby: Derby has funds for a new pumper which will go to Storms. I believe remounting FD-10's ambulance box on a new cab and chassis is also being discussed.
New Canaan: New Canaan has placed an order with Marion to build a rescue pumper on a Spartan chassis.

Old Saybrook: Old Saybrook Fire is currently working on specs for a new pumper.

It is expected to go in service for mid to late June. A new Deputy Chief Suburban will go in service around the same time.
Westbrook: The last hurdle for Westbrook Fire to go through to replace the ladder truck is a vote by the towns people. If the vote passes, then a new ladder truck will go to bid. I believe they are also working with the town to replace three pumpers at the same time.
Clinton: Clinton's new heavy rescue should be completed by mid summer.
Cromwell: Cromwell has a Pierce quint being built which should be delivered this summer and be stationed at the West Street firehouse.

CT Fire Truck News 'n Things
Today I'm back with some CT Fire Truck news 'n things. First off, North Branford's new rescue truck is in production at Rescue 1 in New Jersey. Also, their Medic 4 ambulance is getting remounted at AEV and a loaner will be provided. Citizens' Hose in Seymour has received their new rescue truck, a 2013 Pierce Velocity with bodywork by Firematic. Stony Hill, in Bethel, is getting a new Pierce engine in May. Nichols, in Trumbull, is in the final stages of ordering a new heavy rescue. Wallingford has rejected the bid from Sutphen for the new Engine 1.They are currently in the process of rebidding. Andover's 1991 E-One pumper is currently at GK for refurbishment. Canton has awarded the bid for 2 Spartan pumpers to 4 Guys and they should be in later this year. Canton also has a new ambulance in, replacing their old Ford ambulance. East Hartford has placed an order with Seagrave for a new pumper. They also purchased a Seagrave pumper that was used on the show Rescue Me.(Information from www.connfire.com).
Stay tuned for Part 2 coming next week (hopefully). Scratch that. It will be coming in May. I'll probably be doing this around the beginning of each month.

Hello!
Hi, I'm Zack and I started a blog for some reason (Might have been a class at Epoch Arts or something...). I will post things about: fire trucks, food, political stuff (That may get a little rant-y), fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, fire truck events, fire trucks, websites I like, fire trucks, fun stuff that happens in my life, fire depts., fire trucks, and Facebook-y stuff. Oh, and fire trucks. Did I mention fire trucks? :P (Oh, and maybe some videos. But most, if not all videos, will go on my Youtube channel). I will also be uploading pictures from time to time. And also music I like (Spoilers: Rock, Alternative Rock [IE Dropkick Murphys, Green Day, Foo Fighters], and more rock. Especially rock bands from the 80's).
